How far have been Rwanda in the implementation of SDG4?

“Rwanda is well positioned and leads in the implementation of SDG4”, said Albert Mutesa to journalists during the one-day national consultation meeting on Global Education Meeting (GEM).

A one-day national consultation on Global Education Meeting was held at Lemigo Hotel on Tuesday 20th August 2024 in Kigali. This workshop was organized in partnership with the Ministry of Education, National Commission for UNESCO, UNICEF and UNESCO Regional Office in preparation for the Global Education Meeting 2024 that will take place in Fortaleza, Brazil, on October 31st and November 1st, 2024.

This Consultation aims to assess Rwanda’s progress in achieving SDG4 and to identify strategies and modalities to implement the existing commitments and priority actions, as part of broader SDG4 acceleration and education transformation efforts. It is a crucial step in the collective journey towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 and ensuring inclusive, equitable, and education for all by 2030.

In his opening remarks, Pascal Gatabazi, Chief Technical Advisor in the Ministry of Education, noted that “It is imperative that we engage in meaningful dialogue, drawing on the expertise, experiences, insights, and innovation from a broad spectrum of stakeholders. Together, we can shape the policies and practices that will not only benefit our nation but also contribute to the global effort to ensure that every child, every learner, has access to the quality education they deserve. Our discussions today will contribute to the regional consultations that will take place in the lead-up to GEM, ensuring that our national perspectives are well-represented at the 2024 GEM.”
