1. Call for nominations: 2026 UNESCO ICT in Education Prize
The UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of ICT in Education recognizes innovative approaches in leveraging new technologies to expand educational and lifelong learning opportunities for all, in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Goal 4 on education.
Established in 2005 with the support of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Prize rewards individuals and organizations that are implementing outstanding projects and promoting the creative use of technologies to enhance learning, teaching and overall educational performance in the digital age. An international Jury selects two best projects annually. Each prizewinner receives US$ 25,000, a medal and a diploma during a ceremony at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. Every year the Prize has a specific theme, which, while being in line with UNESCO’s mandate and values, advocates for responsible and ethical use of information and communication technologies.

2. Call for nominations for the 2025-2026 UNESCO-Hamdan Prize for Teacher Development
UNESCO is launching the call for nominations for the 9th Edition of the UNESCO-Prize for Teacher Development. Every two years, the Prize recognizes three projects worldwide that have demonstrated outstanding efforts to improve the quality of teaching and learning. Each laureate will receive a certificate and an award of US$ 100,000. In addition, laureates may benefit from increased visibility, networking opportunities, and international recognition.

The UNESCO-Hamdan Prize for Teacher Development recognizes exceptional initiatives from around the globe that have strengthened teaching practices and improved education quality.
Who can apply?
The Prize targets institutions, organizations and educational or research institutes.
Nominations are submitted by Member States via their National Commissions or non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in official partnership with UNESCO. Each nominating body may nominate up to five institutions or organizations. Self-nominations are not accepted.
Interested candidates are invited to contact their country’s National Commission for UNESCO or an NGO in official partnership with UNESCO to request a nomination.
What?
Candidates are invited to propose projects that demonstrate outstanding achievements in improving teaching practices and enhancing the quality of teaching and learning, with potential for adaptation and mutual policy or programmatic learning. The projects must meet the eligibility criteria set by the Prize.
An independent International Jury of five experts in teacher-related issues will evaluate nominated applications based on the projects’ innovation, achievements and potential for adaptation.

When?
Deadline for submissions is 31 October 2025 (midnight, GMT +2).
How?
Applications must be submitted in English or French via an online platform, following completion of an account request form.
Laureates are selected by the Director-General of UNESCO based on the recommendations of the International Jury. Laureates will receive the award at a celebration to be held on World Teachers’ Day on 5 October 2026.
